A cutting edge sparkling made from exceptional fruit
1 October 2010"Owned by S. Smith & Son of Yalumba fame, Jansz is a cutting-edge Australian sparkling label able to source exceptional cool-climate fruit from northern Tasmania. It has followed its exceptional 2001 Late Disgorged Cuvée with another similar style and focus in 2002. The 2005 Vintage Cuvée lacks the shape and definition, being instead rounder, creamier and more laid-back.

95 points - Very stylish and elegant, this full-bodied, maturing sparkling wine has an alluringly complex bouquet whose nutty, citrusy aromas reveal smoky, toasty nougat and biscuit-like complexity, plus a suggestion of cinnamon. Round and chewy, with a deep, lingering core of citrus, melon and berry fruit backed by meaty, wheatmeal-like nuances, it’s long and refreshing, finishing with a lingering note of mineral.

92 points - Mature and laid-back, this complex, elegant and creamy wine has a delicate, lightly meaty fragrance of nougat, white peach, fresh bakery yeasts, cloves and cinnamon. It’s very restrained and delicate, with a fluffy but generous palate whose stonefruit flavours are carefully knot with creamy leesy nuances, finishing long and savoury with a persistent core nof fruit and a soft, but cleanly defined cut of fresh acidity."
