The Wines Overview

Jansz Tasmania LD Vintage Cuvée 2000

Jansz Tasmania LD Vintage Cuvée 2000

Individual blocks were selected, hand harvested and fermented separately, to maximise quality and blending choices. All base wines underwent malolactic fermentation, and some wines received further stirring, to give distinctive creaminess and layers to the palate. A portion of the 2000 Vintage Cuvée was held back from release to age on lees for a total of over seven years to give the wine increased complexity and depth of flavour. The nose is intense with aromas that have all the attributes of long yeast aging, brioche and truffles. There is richness from the fruit, the Chardonnay contributing honeysuckle and nougat aromas and the Pinot Noir showing sea spray, strawberries and mushroom. The palate has incredible richness and creaminess, not just from the very fine and persistent bead, but also layers of flavours. The mid palate is filled with figs and stone fruit, with a lingering finish of biscuits and shortbread. The wine is powerful, but full of finesse and finely balanced.
